Xbox 360
Lately I've been talked into getting a Xbox 360, mostly by Ness's brother. It's really enticing, because I have an original Xbox, but it's quite an old crusty unit now. But I still like to play it time to time. Anyway, the 360 is starting at about $250 now, which is a pretty good price, considering the PS3 is still almost $700. Also it has been updated a couple of times and it's supposed to be really good, with a lot of really good games for it.
But!
Lately my life has been a lot more busy than it used to be. After getting home from work, I usually have enough time to make a nice dinner (I like to cook, ok), followed by going to the gym or going to Capoeira or seeing Ness. Then add in some socialising with my friends and housemates, doing a little web browsing and reading news, and then it's bed time. And I play some games on my PC too, which I built earlier in the year, with intention of playing good games on it. Lately it's been Fallout 3, which is a big time sapper.
If I had a Xbox 360, I'd have to add in time to play this. And that would mean having to take time out from doing healthy things like cooking, Capoeira or the gym. And I want to do some surfing when the weather gets warm too. I'm new to that but I promised myself to give it a good try this summer, after getting a lesson last summer and enjoying it. You may think 'whats all this silly talk about being healthy'? Well I know it sounds a bit gay, but it's taken me a long time to get here, to get off my ass and into eating alright, and going to capoeira. I am just worried that more time spent gaming would be like a step backwards. I hope you understand.
Plus, I would have to use my PC monitor (22") to play it, which doesn't have S-video inputs or anything, so I'd have to run it through my PC, and I'm not sure if I'd have to have it on all the time when I play Xbox. I don't really want to spend the money buying a LCD, but I know if I had a 360, I'd definitely start pondering that idea!
Then there's the positives, all the good games, the online experience, the fact that almost all my mates have them (play online against). So it's a really hard decision!!
But I must say the 'no' camp is echoing really loudly in my head, I feel like something inside me is arguing hard and long against getting one, like some kind of moral dilemma (maybe it's knowing I should be doing more exercise and knowing that a 360 would mean less). I'll have to sleep on it a bit, but I am thinking it's more of a 'no' at this stage...
Which is sad because I'm convinced now is a real good time to get one. The price has come down to a 'sweet spot' where it won't come down too much further from. I don't see the 360 going under $200 for the next 12 months at least, and I heard and recently read that Microsoft are planning supporting it for a lot longer, and haven't even started work on a new one.
So it's cheap, modable, has a long life ahead and has lots of good titles which will continue for a long while along with a good online experience. I just don't have the time, that's all.
It's sad, I feel like that's not a good enough reason...

Sunburn
I don't like being sunburnt. With all those ads on TV and the fact that 1 (or was it 2?) out of 3 Australians will get skin cancer some time in their life, combined with my northern European light skin, it gets a bit worrying. I do this every summer, near the start, I get sunburnt once and feel bad, and then try harder to not get too burnt again, and it generally goes well. I'll do a bit of surfing this summer, too, which means full days out in the sun.
I am burnt because Ness and I went to Echuca for the weekend, and while there, yesterday we went out on her mum's ski boat on the Murray. We were towing this 'cookie', a truck tyre with a bottom and it skids across the surface of the water. It was wicked fun. I'm sore today though.
Only have 2 weeks of work to go before I go on holidays for 3 weeks. Holidays will mainly be spent at home, which is cool because I feel like just having time off and catch up on TV shows, games (Fallout 3, for example), and a few jobs I want to do on my car. I will talk about my car projects in a different post. It's been a pretty busy, and fairly successful year, so I'm looking forward to chillaxing for a while. Have no plans for NYE yet, so we might need to work on that.
Anyway, better get on with my day.

Sicky Me
Okay, well if you haven't noticed, typing in www.funkz.org into the address bar of your browser brings you here, not my old website. I'm moving my blog to blogger.com to save costs (hosting is costing a bit), now that my email is with Google and photos are on/moving to Flickr. The old website is no more, now this is what you get! I'll attempt to move my old blog entries to blogger.com, but I'm not sure if it's possible..
So it's done now, and I just need to do something about the layout of this blog, and add other content and links.
Yesterday I was getting an on-off stomach ache and had been visiting the mens' a bit more than usual. I left a little early from work as I was feeling tired and lethargic. I think I either have a stomach bug or have eaten something that hasn't really been fresh/clean (which is unusual because I tend to not eat much junk, apart from them donuts the other day!). I took the day off work today which I'm glad about and got some rest, but I still am not feeling that well so I'm unsure about tomorrow, I'll see in the morning. It's more convenient at home to go to the toilet, and then have a sleep in the afternoon or the like. I went out to get a new pack of vitamin-C tablets this afternoon so that should help.
I managed to get my hands on Fallout 3, to give it a try. I was sceptical of it because the reviews made it seem like just a first-person shooter in which you could aim at the enemy's legs/head, etc. But it's actually got a lot of role-playing-game in it. You can have skills in heaps of different areas, like talking to people, picking locks, hand-to-hand combat and so on. I find it much more enthralling than an ordinary shooter, so it seems to deserve the really high rating it keeps getting.
Anyway, keep posted.

What To Type
First post on my new blog! I can't think of a name yet and as such, it's 'TBA'. :)
I will point funkz.org to this, and maybe try to import my old blog entries to blogger.com.
Anyway, check out my photos on Flickr! I uploaded all (about) 800 from Scott and my South-East Asia trip from last year. I upgraded to a 'pro' account last week.
Stay tuned hippies!
